Food historians place the origin of cannoli – tube-shaped Italian pastries filled with a sweet, creamy filling – around 3,000 years ago in Caltanissetta, Sicily. That’s exactly where the Diforti family who make these come from, although maybe not quite that early. Cannoli are the superstar of Sicilian desserts, and these artisan pastries have been handmade, rolled, fried and filled with deeply decadent white chocolate cream, before being dusted with icing sugar.
